The Jaganmohan Palace was converted into the Jayachamarajendra art gallery in 1875 and exhibits paintings and other works of art dating back to that period. It exhibits works from various schools and periods of Indian art as well as ivory carvings, antique sandalwood, Japanese art, rare musical machines & instruments and the famous traditional Mysore gold leaf paintings. Also exhibited in the art gallery are oil paintings by Raja Ravi Varma and Svetoslav Roerich.
