Introduction: What Is Nasheman Restaurant & Why Is It Popular?

Nasheman Restaurant Mysuru is a small, old-school eatery located in Lashkar Mohalla. The restaurant is said to be over 50 years old and is often mentioned among the oldest restaurants in Mysuru.

Nasheman Restaurant Mysuru

In recent times, Nasheman gained renewed attention after popular food influencer Kripal Amanna reviewed it on YouTube, praising its traditional flavours—especially the Nasheman Mutton Biryani. Inspired by that video and its long history, we decided to give this place a try.

Location and How to Reach Nasheman Restaurant

Nasheman Restaurant is located in Lashkar Mohalla, one of the busiest areas of Mysuru.

How to Reach

  • Easily accessible by two-wheelers and autos
  • If you’re driving a car:
    • Park near St. Philomena’s Church
    • Walk a short distance to the restaurant
⚠️ No parking space is available in front of the restaurant.

Ambience and Seating

Nasheman is a very small restaurant with limited seating.
  • Seating capacity: Around 10 customers
  • Layout:
    • Cash counter immediately on the left
    • A small dining area with basic tables and chairs
    • An inner room, seemingly reserved for families or special guests
The ambience is very basic, with no modern interiors or comfort seating. This place is clearly meant for quick meals rather than relaxed dining.

Menu, Food Quality, and Must-Try Dishes

Available Menu (During Our Visit)

When we visited in the late afternoon, the menu was extremely limited.
  • ❌ No chicken dishes available
  • ✅ Only mutton dishes were served

Recommended by Staff

  • Nasheman Mutton Biryani – ₹325
  • Mutton Sukha Pal – ₹325
These were described as their “best dishes.”

Food Quality – The Reality

  • The biryani rice was flavorful and decent
  • Unfortunately, the mutton pieces were undercooked and rubbery
  • The mutton was extremely hard to chew
  • Even the Mutton Sukha Pal was tough and went completely uneaten
📌 Only the biryani rice was edible. The meat was a major disappointment.

Pricing and Value for Money

Nasheman Cost for Two

  • Mutton Biryani × 2: ₹650
  • Mutton Sukha Pal: ₹325
Approx total: ₹975 (without extras)
Considering the food quality we experienced, the pricing does not justify the value.

Service and Hygiene

  • The initial welcome was polite
  • The order was taken promptly
  • When we complained about the uncooked mutton:
    • The staff acknowledged the issue
    • Gave a small cooked piece as proof
    • Mentioned the meat was from a different supplier
However:
  • ❌ No apology
  • ❌ No discount or compensation
  • ❌ No concern shown for unhappy customers
Hygiene appeared average, nothing exceptional or alarming.

Best Time to Visit Nasheman Restaurant

If you still plan to visit, timing is crucial.

✅ Best time:
  • Proper lunch hours (12:30 PM – 2:30 PM)
❌ Avoid:
  • Late afternoon or evening, as menu options are very limited

Personal Dining Experience

Our visit took place on 3rd January 2025, and we walked in with high expectations.
While waiting for the food, we excitedly discussed:
  • Nasheman’s 50+ year legacy
  • Its popularity
  • Kripal Amanna’s glowing review
Sadly, the experience did not live up to the hype.

The disappointment was not just about the food, but also the lack of empathy from the staff. Walking out, we felt let down—not angry, but genuinely disappointed.
